ChatRamen (by Peppty Technologies) lets every user delete their account and the personal data associated with it. Some records are kept where law or safety requires. This page explains what is deleted, what is kept, how to request deletion, and how long it takes.

What data is deleted

Your Firebase Authentication credential (email, Sign in with Apple link, or other sign-in link)
Your profile document in Firestore — replaced with an anonymised tombstone that prevents reuse of the deleted account ID
All associated records: friends and friend requests, chat conversations, notifications, blocked lists, subscription records
Profile photos and chat image uploads stored in AWS S3 under your account prefix; older web uploads may also exist in Firebase Storage under the same prefix
Real-time presence data (online status in Firebase Realtime Database)

What we keep after you delete your account, and for how long

Messages you sent: kept for the other person, with your account link removed, until the 24-month message limit removes them (messages sent before July 2026 stay until the one-time clean-up described in the privacy policy runs). Your display name can remain on these messages until then.
Reports about your account (as the reporter or the person reported) and moderation decisions: kept, with your account link removed where possible, for as long as needed to prevent fraud and abuse and to defend legal claims. We do not apply a fixed automatic end date to these today. Whether a particular piece of reported content is preserved depends on the report; we do not promise that all reported content is kept.
Child-safety material: if we report content to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the law requires us to preserve it for at least 1 year after the report is submitted (18 U.S.C. §2258A). The law lets us keep it longer to protect children, and we do so when needed. Account deletion does not remove it.
Payment and subscription records: kept for as long as tax, accounting and refund-fraud rules require.
Anti-abuse records: one-way keyed hashes (HMAC-SHA256) of device and account identifiers, kept to stop restricted accounts coming back. They cannot be reversed to your device or account. We do not apply a fixed automatic end date to these today.
A record that you asked for deletion (it includes your account ID, the request date and its status): kept so we can show we honoured your request. We do not apply a fixed automatic end date to it today.
Support messages, cancellation feedback and the emails we sent you about them: kept, and we do not apply a fixed automatic end date to them today.
Data under a legal hold or a pending dispute or regulatory inquiry: kept until the hold is released.
Crash reports: held by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days, after which removal from live and backup systems begins.
Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months (the 14 months restart if you are active again), then deletes it automatically.
Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics signals: once they can no longer be linked to you they fall outside deletion and may be kept indefinitely.
Backups: weekly backups of our database are kept for 21 days, so deleted data can remain in a backup for up to 21 days.

How to delete your account

Open the ChatRamen app on your iPhone or sign in on web (chatramen.com).

Go to Settings → Remove Account (open the Settings tab → scroll to the bottom of Settings).

Confirm the deletion and tap Remove Account. You will be asked to re-authenticate (enter your password or re-confirm Sign in with Apple).

Your account is scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Your profile is hidden and you are signed out right away. Sign back in within 30 days to cancel the request. If you do not cancel, the account and associated data are deleted after the grace period.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email info@peppty.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Include the email address or sign-in identifier associated with your account. We will complete the deletion within 30 days and send a confirmation email.

Subscription cancellation

Deleting your account also cancels any active ChatRamen web subscription. If you purchased via the App Store, your subscription is managed by Apple; open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone to cancel and request a refund if applicable.
